History and Mission
History
Circle Toward Wholeness was incorporated as a business in September 2007 by Sandy Jahmi Burg. The name was inspired by her own journey toward wholeness and her experiences in Circles of Trust offered by Courage and Renewal, an organization following Parker Palmer’s work. The first board of directors met in January, 2008. Day Circles were offered at Selu Conservancy early that year, the name and logo for Circle Toward Wholeness were trademarked and by the end of the year, a website was up. We were granted 501c3 approval on March 17, 2009. In 2010, we partnered with Cooperative Learning Institute to develop an online workplace wellness program for a hotel chain, which unfortunately did not get an opportunity to launch. In the past several years, Sandy has gathered team members and presented programs for community centers, workplaces, college campuses and at businesses.
Currently, we view ourselves as catalysts in the movement from viewing our own health and self-care reactively (as in paying little attention to our health unless we are sick or not feeling well) to proactively (paying daily attention to things we do, say & eat that make us feel well and stay healthy). The amount of information out there on wellness is mind-boggling and often confusing. As a team of health and wellness facilitators working together, we can offer a large variety of quality program options.
